Therapy Doctoral Student Extern

Eugenia Zhukovsky is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at LIU Brooklyn. She earned her B.S. in Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience from Yale University and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University. Eugenia has experience working with children on the autism spectrum, as well as those with ADHD, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and psychotic presentations. Most recently, she served as a Psychosocial Teacher at the Quad Preparatory School, which caters specifically to twice-exceptional (2e) children. Prior to that, she worked as a research assistant at the National Center for Children and Families at Columbia University and in the Psychology department at NYU.

Eugenia aspires to become a clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatments for children and their families. She is particularly interested in the psychoeducation of parents during the therapeutic process, aiming to support children with emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. She is passionate about working with young children, finding joy in translating complex emotions, behaviors, and neurological processes into accessible terms. Eugenia believes that combining empathy with a simplified scientific perspective can help alleviate the overwhelming feelings often experienced by children. She also focuses on helping parents understand their child’s needs and implement effective strategies at home to enhance family dynamics and overall quality of life. Eugenia is known for infusing humor and warmth into her therapeutic approach, striving to create a comfortable and supportive environment for her patients.
